There's something undeniably comforting about the combination of maple and walnuts, especially in a sweet treat like Delicious Maple Walnut Bars. These bars evoke memories of cozy family gatherings and fall afternoons, where the aroma of baking fills the air and brings everyone together.
Ingredients
Scale:
1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
¼ teaspoon salt
½ cup unsalted butter, softened
1 cup brown sugar, packed
½ cup maple syrup
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup chopped walnuts
2 tablespoons additional maple syrup (for drizzling)
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x9-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.
In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
Add the maple syrup, eggs, and vanilla extract to the butter mixture. Mix well until fully combined.
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined.
Fold in the chopped walnuts until evenly distributed throughout the batter.
Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan, spreading it evenly. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown.
Once out of the oven, drizzle the additional maple syrup over the top while the bars are still warm. Allow to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
