Indulge in a culinary fusion that combines the best of American and Mexican cuisines. Smash burger tacos offer a delightful twist on traditional tacos by incorporating juicy smashed burgers into crispy taco shells.
Ingredients
Scale:
1 pound ground beef (80/20 for optimal flavor and juiciness)
1 tablespoon taco seasoning
Salt and pepper to taste
8 crispy taco shells
1 cup shredded lettuce
1 cup diced tomatoes
1 cup shredded cheese (Cheddar or Mexican blend)
1 cup cheese sauce for tacos (optional)
1 cup homemade guacamole
1 cup spicy salsa
Fresh cilantro for garnish (optional)
Instructions
In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef. Season with taco seasoning, salt, and pepper. Cook for about 5-7 minutes, breaking the meat apart with a spatula, until it’s browned and cooked through.
Increase the heat to medium-high. Form the cooked ground beef into small, flat patties and place them back into the skillet. Sear for 2-3 minutes on each side until they develop a nice crust.
While the patties are cooking, warm the crispy taco shells according to package instructions.
Remove the taco shells from the oven. Place a seared beef patty into each shell.
Top each taco with shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, shredded cheese, cheese sauce, guacamole, and spicy salsa as desired.
Finish with fresh cilantro for garnish. Serve immediately while the tacos are warm and crispy.
