When it comes to comfort food, few dishes are as heartwarming and satisfying as a Chicken Green Bean Casserole. This recipe combines tender chicken, vibrant green beans, and a creamy sauce, all baked to perfection with a crispy topping that adds a delightful crunch.
Ingredients
Scale:
2 cups cooked chicken, shredded or diced
3 cups fresh or frozen green beans, trimmed
1 can (10.5 ounces) cream of mushroom soup
1 cup sour cream
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
Salt and pepper to taste
1 cup crispy fried onions
1 tablespoon melted butter
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
If using fresh green beans, blanch them in boiling water for about 2-3 minutes until they are bright green and slightly tender. Drain and set aside. If using frozen, simply thaw and drain excess water.
In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked chicken, green beans, cream of mushroom soup, sour cream, cheddar cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Stir until everything is well combined.
Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish with cooking spray or butter. Pour the chicken and green bean mixture into the dish, spreading it evenly.
In a small bowl, combine the crispy fried onions with the melted butter (if using). Sprinkle the mixture evenly over the top of the casserole.
Place the casserole in the preheated oven and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the casserole is bubbly and the topping is golden brown.
Remove the casserole from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
