Description
This delightful jam not only brightens up your breakfast but also envelops you in aromatic warmth with every spoonful. The combination of fresh oranges with spices like cinnamon, cloves, and nutmeg creates a symphony of flavors that perfectly complements the sweetness of the fruit.
Ingredients
Scale:
4 large Fresh Oranges, preferably organic
2 cups Granulated Sugar, adjust to taste
1/4 cup Lemon Juice, fresh-squeezed
1 teaspoon Cinnamon, ground
1/2 teaspoon Cloves, ground
1/4 teaspoon Nutmeg, ground
1 cup Water
Optional: Additional zest from citrus fruits
Instructions
Wash the oranges thoroughly under running water, peel and segment them, removing as many seeds as possible. Reserve some zest to add later for extra flavor.
In a large pot, combine the orange segments, sugar, lemon juice, water, cinnamon, cloves, and nutmeg. Stir gently to mix.
Place the pot over medium heat and bring to a gentle simmer. Cook for about 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally until the oranges soften and the mixture thickens.
To test if the jam is ready, place a spoonful on a cold plate. If it holds its shape, it’s ready; if not, continue cooking for another 5-10 minutes.
For a smoother texture, use an immersion blender to blend the jam to your desired consistency.
Carefully pour the hot jam into sterilized jars, leaving about 1/4 inch of headspace. Wipe the rims with a clean cloth.
Seal the jars with lids and let them cool at room temperature. Store in the refrigerator for up to 3 weeks or process in a water bath for long-term preservation.
